Seems to me that we make some of our dumbest moves when we have absolutely no intention of doing anything to make anyone laugh. In fact the more serious our intention the funnier the 'incident'. Certainly I have performed some of my best screw-ups when not bothering to read  instructions on bottles, jars, packets and boxes.  Nowadays this is because I am not wearing my glasses, and having to hold up what I am about to do by going to find them is ....well, its just not an option.
