Oh Dear! Kevin Rudd ...

Well folks many of us will be uttering the immortal words ' I could just see this coming' or 'I just new it, he was never going to last' or 'This Is Exactly Why I Did Not Vote Labor'... etc ... etc ... Oh Dear, Mr Rudd!

This political gaff certainly wins the 'Daily Screw-Ups Award of the Decade' - waking up to this history making event in Australia today just had every Aussie feeling a little shell shocked!

So what remains in store for us with our brand shiny new PM Julia Gillard is anyone's guess !

In one way Kev I feel for you, no-one should have to be faced with this sort of  a backhanded challenge of their position ...

- but chin up Kevin baby, there are it seems still those who are wanting to show their support and express their affection for you ..... just take a look as these guys ...

With breathless anticipation, the crowd awaits the unveiling of the Kevin Rudd Statue ...

Florida Court Sets Atheist Holy Day

In Florida, an atheist created a case against the upcoming Easter and Passover Holy days.

He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against Christians and Jews and observances of their holy days. The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days.

The case was brought before a judge.After listening to the passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring,"Case dismissed!"

The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, "Your honor, How can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and others. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays.."

The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do. Your client, counsel, is woefully ignorant."

The lawyer said, "Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists."

The judge said, "The calendar says April 1st is April Fools Day. Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.' Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that, if your client says there is no God, then he is a fool.

Therefore, April 1st is his day.Court is adjourned."

You gotta love a Judge who knows his scripture!

Another KRudd funny from the Aussie Hall of Political Pain..

Bring 'em on guys you have been much too quiet of late.

John Howard, Queen Elizabeth, and Vladimir Putin all die and go to hell.

While there, they spy a red phone and ask what the phone is for.

The devil tells them it is for calling back to Earth.

Putin asks to call Russia and talks for 5 minutes.
When he was finished the devil informs him that the cost is a million
dollars, so Putin writes him a check.
Next Queen Elizabeth calls England and talks for 30 minutes.
When she was finished the devil informs her that cost is 6 million dollars,
so Queen Elizabeth writes him a check.

Finally John Howard gets his turn and talks for 4 hours.
When he was finished the devil informed him that there would be
no charge for the call and feel free to call Australia anytime.

When Putin hears this he goes ballistic and asks the devil why Howard got to
call Australia for free.

The devil replied, "Since Rudd became Prime Minister of
Australia, the country has gone to hell, so naturally it's a local call."

Is There a Difference??

You know I was only just thinking to myself the other day that...the Aussies have been a little 'politically-comedically' quiet of late, and then..this one arrives.

Funny!! I just love Aussie political humor it has a way of bringing the 'tall political poppy syndrome' down to a reasonable fits all kind of size.

Well if you are not an Aussie you may well not know who some of the people mentioned are, but let me assure you of two things...

1.  It will make you giggle, and
2. There probably are exactly the same 'political personalities' lurking around your own country's halls of government..have a read and see what I mean.

This one is a little different....

Two Different Versions.... Two Different Morals | The Ant and The Grasshopper

OLD VERSION

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away..

Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE STORY:  Be responsible for yourself!

MODERN VERSION

The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving.

Channels 7, 9 and 10,the ABC and SBS show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.

Australia is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, 'It's Not Easy Being Green.'

Acorn stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing, 'We shall overcome.' Cardinal George Pell then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper's sake.

Prime Minister Rudd condemns the ant and blames John Howard, Robert Menzies, Capt James Cook, and the Pope for the grasshopper's plight.

Bob Brown exclaims in an interview on Today Tonight that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and calls for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, Labor in conjunction with the Greens draft the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer.

The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government and given to the grasshopper.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn't maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous and once peaceful, neighborhood.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be careful how you vote in 2011.

Now, if you are the smart 'ant type person'  you will let your other 'ant' type friends know about this - and hey, why not pass this on to all the other ants you know.

Don't bother talking to any grasshoppers about it because they wouldn't understand it, anyway.

Good Morning from Australia!

Well it seems our love for our Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd (KRudd) is as good as it is ever going to be.  Love him or hate him, or even if you just find him plain annoying...seems there is always something 'about him' that can make us laugh.

A teacher asked her 6th grade class how many of them were Kevin / KRudd fans.

Not really knowing what a KRudd fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands except for Billy in the front row.

The teacher asked Billy why he has decided to be different.

'Because I'm not a KRudd fan?'

The teacher asked, 'Why aren't you a KRudd fan?'

'Because I'm a Liberal.'

The teacher asked him why he's a Liberal.

Billy proudly answered, 'Well, my Mom's a Liberal and my Dad's a Liberal, so I'm a Liberal.'

Annoyed by this answer, the teacher asked, 'If your mom was a moron and your dad was an idiot, what would that make you?'

With a big smile, Billy replied, 'That would make me a KRudd fan.'

Important Information on the Australian Stimulus ('Stimuless') Payment

You have just got to love this stuff.

'Hey Australia are we going to help you out big time with our Stimulus Package?  you bet.'  Sounds almost erotic!!

But, oh my!  our esteemed opposition leader Malcolm Turnbull still has his doubts about the value of Mr Rudd's $42billion package.

'Our Prime Minister has thrown all the conventional rules of economics and financial management out of the proverbial window' he lamented.

In true Aussie style though,  someone found the humor in all this...enjoy..

Soon Australian taxpayers will receive an Economic Stimulus Payment.

This  very exciting new program is explained below using a Q and A format:

"Q. What is an Economic Stimulus Payment?

"A. It is money that the federal government will send to  Taxpayers.

"Q. Where will the government get this money?

"A. From taxpayers.

"Q. So the government is giving me back my own money?

"A. Only a smidgen.

"Q. What is the purpose of this payment?

"A. The plan is that you will use the money to purchase a  high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.

"Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China?

"A. Shut up."

Australian Wildfires: Man Charged - Every Aussie Would Want Him Put Away For Life

The recent Australian wildfires are devastating.  So many lives have been tragically changed for ever and no doubt many will be left with lasting and painful emotional scars.

So besides the idiots that light the damn things - where does some of the responsibility lie for the screw-up in relation to the preparation, management and prevention of loss of life and property?????? (Refer to my quoted story below)

Such utter devastation is difficult to comprehend. We are told they have charged someone with this diabolical act.  The suffering this maniac has caused to so many humans, animals and wildlife is something that I believe Australians will feel a strong and bitter anger about for a long, long time. Put the idiot away for life and throw away the key.

My heart goes out to every single living creature that has had to endure  trauma, pain and loss due to the actions of this mindless idiot.

I could get on my soap box about a lot of things when it comes to fires.  Recently I have been head to head with our own local council about surrounding bushland where we live.  Typically there answer is 'everything currently is maintained to standard'.

What bloody standard?

What ticks me off is - you cut a tree down around your property they are all over you like prickly heat.  I understand the environmentalist and global warming issues affecting us worldwide - but for heavens sake, if councils, in their infinite wisdom are going to approve residential developments in or close to dense bush and forest areas...then dammit, give residents half a bloody chance to be as safe as they possibly can and allow reasonable clearing.

To quote one story of utter council environmental madness -

One Victorian man was sued by his local government for clearing 236 trees on his property (out of 200,000 trees) to create a fire break. His local government called him an environmental vandal for illegally removing native vegetation. He lost $100,000, and was criminally convicted. Guess  what, his house was saved in these recent bush fires while many houses around him were destroyed.

Government is now talking about a Royal Commission - are they then acknowledging the fact that population sprawl into the country/bush areas is becoming a problem and that fire risks need to be addressed ....well whoppee bloody dooo!

Even with all this fire storm activity going on around Victoria/Melbourne our local council land management division seems reticent to use a little forward thinking and do something to control the reserves in the hinterland regions of our city where the population is quite dense and growing.

I cannot help but be angry with councils and how they respond to the people who are trying to rightfully protect themselves and their properties from destruction by fire.  If residents are mindful of the danger of fire threats why is it that councils and environmentalists cant see it?

I would love your thoughts and feedback on this so please give me your comments.

Also, there are collection points world wide for the victims of these most devastating of all Australian Wildfires. If you can give your assistance in anyway, please do not hold back, every little bit donated is going to help the people, the family pets, the livestock and the wildlife that have been so devastatingly affected by this tragic event.

The roar of the flames is akin to the sound of thunder and the flames absolutely enormous. How could anyone cause such devastation and fear to so many?

After the Victorian Bush Fire on “Black Saturday” the 7th February, 2009, people have got to thinking about the different legislators relating to bush fire protection in Australia.

As a Land Management Officer working with bush fire management, he is aware of a couple of publications that cover bush fire protection.

How grateful we should be that it was not us
