STUDY ON MEN AND MENSTRUATING WOMEN

It never ceases to amaze me how many studies have been,  and still are, conducted on the subject of Men, Women and the lively and fun effects that Menstruating has on their relationship!

I ask you, has anyone really come up with any 'real' solutions, or for that matter any real suggestions for men on just how they  can 'safely' navigate through this most dangerous of periods and live to tell the tale?

If you were to raise this issue with any woman (preferably not one currently  'menstruating') by asking  if she felt there was truly any need for these types of studies - she no doubt would tell you that it is 'men' who have the problem really - not us women!

Then!  ... Lo and behold, this morning this study worth sharing with friends both male and female made its way into my in-box .... enjoy!

A recent study on 'menstruating women' was conducted by UCLA's Department of Psychiatry.  What this study has revealed is that the kind of face a woman finds attractive on a man can differ depending on where she is in her 'menstrual cycle'.

For example: if she is ovulating, she is more than likely going to be attracted to men with strong, rugged and masculine features.

On the other hand: if she is menstruating or menopausal, she will tend to be more attracted to a man with thick,  strong duct tape over his mouth, a particularly jagged spear lodged in his chest and a broad if not splintered bat up his butt while he is on fire.

It has been confirmed that no further studies are expected to be conducted on this subject ...

I think that kind of settles it, don't you ladies?

Oh Dear! Kevin Rudd ...

Well folks many of us will be uttering the immortal words ' I could just see this coming' or 'I just new it, he was never going to last' or 'This Is Exactly Why I Did Not Vote Labor'... etc ... etc ... Oh Dear, Mr Rudd!

This political gaff certainly wins the 'Daily Screw-Ups Award of the Decade' - waking up to this history making event in Australia today just had every Aussie feeling a little shell shocked!

So what remains in store for us with our brand shiny new PM Julia Gillard is anyone's guess !

In one way Kev I feel for you, no-one should have to be faced with this sort of  a backhanded challenge of their position ...

- but chin up Kevin baby, there are it seems still those who are wanting to show their support and express their affection for you ..... just take a look as these guys ...

With breathless anticipation, the crowd awaits the unveiling of the Kevin Rudd Statue ...

The Irish It Seems - Are Still Joking Around !

A twice removed and it seems a thousand times sobered up relative of ours, made this very statement over a frothy Guiness or ten at a recent family and friends of the Irish clan get together.

He said, heartily ... "It is just as well that the Irish blood that we have in our veins permits us to laugh at ourselves, otherwise what a 'bland and dull place' the world would truly be!"

Then someone, who was not remotely Irish saw this as an opportunity to share some Irish fun poking whereupon our far distant twice removed, thousand time sobered up relative lost his cool and his 'sense of humor' and proceeded to return the world to that 'bland and dull place' by aiming, then throwing and finally nicely landing the rice pudding into the face of the 'non-Irish blooded blasphemer' ... !!!

Oh dear Lord, thank heavens it does not run in the family - or does it?! Mmmm! perhaps just a weak Irish moment ... who knows, but I laughed at the jokes and at the rice pudding throwing!

Watch for the last one, that is the 'Irish Joke' that 'broke the Guiness bearing

camels back' ... as it were!! ... LOL

An Irish priest was transferred to  Ballina Catholic  Church Father O'Malley rose from his bed one fine spring morning.

He walked to the window of his bedroom to get a deep breath of the beautiful day outside.  He then noticed there was a Donkey lying dead in the middle of his front lawn.

Not knowing who else to call, he promptly called the local police station.

The conversation went like this:

''Good morning. This is Sergeant Jones. How might I help you?"

"And the best of the day ter yer good self. This is Father O'Malley at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. There's a Donkey lying dead right in der middle of me front lawn."

Sergeant Jones, considering himself to be quite a wit, replied with a smirk, "Well now Father, it was always my impression that you people took care of the last rites!"

There was dead silence on the line for a long moment and then Father O'Malley replied:

"Ah, to be sure, that is true; but we are also obliged to notify the next of kin."

An old Irish nun who was living in a convent next to a construction site noticed the coarse language of the workers and decided to spend some time with them to correct their ways.

She decided she would take her lunch, sit with the workers and talk with them.

She put her sandwich in a brown bag and walked over to the spot where the men were eating.

She walked up to the group and with a big smile said:

"Do any of yer know Jesus ?" They shook their heads and looked at each other very confused.

One of the workers looked up into the steelworks and yelled out, "Anybody up there know Jesus?"

One of the steelworkers yelled down 'why'?

The worker yelled back, "Cos his wife's here with his lunch"

Paddy was driving down the street in a sweat because he had an important meeting and couldn't find a parking place.

Looking up to heaven he said, "Lord take pity on me.   If you find me a parking place I will go to Mass every Sunday for the rest of me life and give up me Irish Whiskey!"

Miraculously, a parking place appeared.

Paddy looked up again and said, "Never mind, I found one."

Father Murphy walks into a pub in Donegal, and says to the first man he meets, "Do you want to go to heaven?"

The man said, "I do, Father."

The priest said,  "Then stand over there against the wall."

Then the priest asked the second man, "Do you want to go to heaven?"

"Certainly, Father," was the man's reply.

"Then stand over there against the wall," said the priest.

Then Father Murphy walked up to O'Toole and said, "Do you want to go to heaven?"

O'Toole said, "No, I don't Father."

The priest said, "I don't believe this.   You mean to tell me that when you die you don't want to go to heaven?"

O'Toole said, "Oh, when I die, yes.   I thought you were getting a group together to go right now."

Paddy was in New York .

He was patiently waiting and watching the traffic cop on a busy street crossing.   The cop stopped the flow of traffic and shouted, "Okay, pedestrians."   Then he'd allow the traffic to pass.

He'd done this several times, and Paddy still stood on the sidewalk.

After the cop had shouted, "Pedestrians!" for the tenth time, Paddy went over to him and said, "Is it not about time ye let the Catholics across?"

Gallagher opened the morning newspaper and was dumbfounded to read in the obituary column that he had died.   He quickly phoned his best friend, Finney.

"Did you see the paper?" asked Gallagher. "They say I died!!"

"Yes, I saw it!" replied Finney.   "Where are ye callin' from?"

And, finally the Irish Joke that earned

'the non-Irish Blooded Blasphemer' the Rice Pudding Award ...

Flynn staggered home very late after another evening with his drinking buddy, Paddy.   He took off his shoes to avoid waking his wife, Mary.

He tiptoed as quietly as he could toward the stairs leading to their upstairs bedroom, but misjudged the bottom step.   As he caught himself by grabbing the banister, his body swung around and he landed heavily on his rump.   A whiskey bottle in each back pocket broke and made the landing especially painful.

Managing not to yell, Flynn sprung up, pulled down his pants, and looked in the hall mirror to see that his butt cheeks were cut and bleeding.   He managed to quietly find a full box of Band-Aids and began putting a Band-Aid as best he could on each place he saw blood.

He then hid the now almost empty Band-Aid box and shuffled and stumbled his way to bed.

In the morning, Flynn woke up with searing pain in both his head and butt and Mary staring at him from across the room.

She said, "You were drunk again last night weren't you?"

Flynn said, "Why you say such a mean thing?"

"Well," Mary said, "it could be the open front door, it could be the broken glass at the bottom of the stairs, it could be the drops of blood trailing through the house, it could be your bloodshot eyes, but mostly.....it's all those Band-Aids stuck on the hall mirror.

And, if you happen to strike a not so 'jovial and hearty Irishman' when telling these jokes, then may the luck of the Irish be with you and ... most of all ... REMEMBER TO DUCK!

I want -- and I don't expect any hassle from you.
I expect a great dinner to be on the table unless
I tell you that I won't be home for dinner.
I'll  go hunting, fishing, boozing, and card-playing
when I want with my old buddies, and don't you
give me a hard time about it.
Those are my rules.

Any comments?"

His new bride said:
"No, that's fine with me.  Just understand that there will be sex
here at seven o'clock every night...whether you're here or not."

Husband and wife had a bitter quarrel on the day of their 40th wedding anniversary!

The husband yells, "When you die, I'm getting you a headstone that reads, 'Here Lies My Wife -- Cold As Ever'!"

"Yeah?" she replies. "When you die, I'm getting you a headstone that reads, 'Here Lies My Husband -- Stiff At Last'!"

(HE ASKED FOR IT!)

Marriage (Part III)

Husband (a doctor) and his wife are having a fight at the breakfast table.

Husband gets up in a rage and says, "And you are no good in bed either," and storms out of the house.

After some time he realizes he was nasty and decides to make amends and rings her up.

She comes to the phone after many rings, and the irritated husband says, "What took you so long to answer to the phone?"

She says, "I was in bed."

"In bed this early, doing what?"

"Getting a second opinion!"

(YEP, HE HAD THAT COMING, TOO!)

Marriage (Part IV)

A man has six children and is very proud of his achievement.

He is so proud of himself, that he starts calling his wife," Mother of Six" in spite of her objections.

One night, they go to a party.  The man decides that it IS time to go home and wants to find out if his wife is ready to leave as well.  He shouts at the top of his voice, "Shall we go home Mother of Six?"

His wife, irritated by her husband's lack of discretion, shouts right back, "Any time you're ready, Father of Four."

(RIGHT ON, LADY!)

The Silent Treatment

A man and his wife were having some problems at home and were giving each other the silent treatment.

Suddenly the man realized that the next day he would need his wife to wake him at 5:00 AM for an early morning business flight.

Not wanting to be the first to break the silence (and LOSE), he wrote on a piece of paper, "Please wake me at 5:00 AM."  He left it where he knew she would find it.

The next morning the man woke up, only to discover it was 9:00 AM and he had missed his flight.

Furious, he was about to go to see why his wife hadn't wakened him when he noticed a piece of paper by the bed.   The paper said, "It is 5:00 AM.  Wake up."

Men are not equipped for these kinds of contests.

Florida Court Sets Atheist Holy Day

In Florida, an atheist created a case against the upcoming Easter and Passover Holy days.

He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against Christians and Jews and observances of their holy days. The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days.

The case was brought before a judge.After listening to the passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring,"Case dismissed!"

The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, "Your honor, How can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and others. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays.."

The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do. Your client, counsel, is woefully ignorant."

The lawyer said, "Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists."

The judge said, "The calendar says April 1st is April Fools Day. Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.' Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that, if your client says there is no God, then he is a fool.

Therefore, April 1st is his day.Court is adjourned."

You gotta love a Judge who knows his scripture!

Another KRudd funny from the Aussie Hall of Political Pain..

Bring 'em on guys you have been much too quiet of late.

John Howard, Queen Elizabeth, and Vladimir Putin all die and go to hell.

While there, they spy a red phone and ask what the phone is for.

The devil tells them it is for calling back to Earth.

Putin asks to call Russia and talks for 5 minutes.
When he was finished the devil informs him that the cost is a million
dollars, so Putin writes him a check.
Next Queen Elizabeth calls England and talks for 30 minutes.
When she was finished the devil informs her that cost is 6 million dollars,
so Queen Elizabeth writes him a check.

Finally John Howard gets his turn and talks for 4 hours.
When he was finished the devil informed him that there would be
no charge for the call and feel free to call Australia anytime.

When Putin hears this he goes ballistic and asks the devil why Howard got to
call Australia for free.

The devil replied, "Since Rudd became Prime Minister of
Australia, the country has gone to hell, so naturally it's a local call."

POLITICAL ANTS AND GRASSHOPPERS |

Is There a Difference??

You know I was only just thinking to myself the other day that...the Aussies have been a little 'politically-comedically' quiet of late, and then..this one arrives.

Funny!! I just love Aussie political humor it has a way of bringing the 'tall political poppy syndrome' down to a reasonable fits all kind of size.

Well if you are not an Aussie you may well not know who some of the people mentioned are, but let me assure you of two things...

1.  It will make you giggle, and
2. There probably are exactly the same 'political personalities' lurking around your own country's halls of government..have a read and see what I mean.

This one is a little different....

Two Different Versions.... Two Different Morals | The Ant and The Grasshopper

OLD VERSION

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away..

Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE STORY:  Be responsible for yourself!

MODERN VERSION

The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving.

Channels 7, 9 and 10,the ABC and SBS show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.

Australia is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, 'It's Not Easy Being Green.'

Acorn stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing, 'We shall overcome.' Cardinal George Pell then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper's sake.

Prime Minister Rudd condemns the ant and blames John Howard, Robert Menzies, Capt James Cook, and the Pope for the grasshopper's plight.

Bob Brown exclaims in an interview on Today Tonight that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and calls for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, Labor in conjunction with the Greens draft the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer.

The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government and given to the grasshopper.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn't maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous and once peaceful, neighborhood.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be careful how you vote in 2011.

Now, if you are the smart 'ant type person'  you will let your other 'ant' type friends know about this - and hey, why not pass this on to all the other ants you know.

Don't bother talking to any grasshoppers about it because they wouldn't understand it, anyway.

Improve Your Marriage - A Book Review

Something a little different from me today DSU Fans and Readers.  We are almost into 2010 - and as always we look forward with hope for a happier, healthier more satisfying year ahead.  So with that in mind I thought what better way to step into 2010.

Usually I am the one looking for and writing about the 'ridiculous and seriocomic' side of life and it's life-term inhabitants - but, after reading this book I felt it deserved to be shared with my readers, especially those of you who are in or planning to be in a serious one-on-one relationship.

Being a fully decorated member of 'The First Wives Club', I would implore anyone who is just married, thinking about getting married or that has been married for any length of time...please, oh please read 'Improve Your Marriage : Don't Overlook The Obvious' and then keep it where you can pick it up at a moments notice to reference it.

Everyone's marriage needs a little help now and again. Even when things are going great, marriages can still hit on difficult times.

I have just finished reading what I consider to be a remarkable book that provides quick to the point and extremely practical advice about how to nurture and make the most out of your marriage relationship. It did occur to me however whilst reading it that, so practical are the ideas, statements and advice, it could be well used to enhance every type of human relationship. Everyone should find some time to read this book.

The author, Russell A Irving, offers up a unique presentation of his thoughts and, as he puts it,common and not-so-common sense ideas and advice. Although intended to be read in stages, be assured that Once you are several pages into it,you may well find that you can't put it down. Russell also does a terrific job helping his readers to master the art of loving communication and cohabitation.

Improve Your Marriage is a very approachable and easy read. Aside from being both practical and helpful, the book is uplifting.  It may well be the catalyst that teaches you, how to now fight the fight fairly, how to change your thought patterns and the current rules of engagement that are influencing your marriage/relationship.

So...Do Words Really Matter?

I was making pasta tonight – which is supposed to be the simple old fallback, right? – when I saw that the recipe called for a “clove of garlic.” Stumped, I paused and pondered for about a minute. A clove? Is that what they call the entire garlic thingy or is that just one of the sections of the garlic?

Sure, I’ve heard people talk about a clove of garlic before – on all those cooking shows, in my grandma’s kitchen, in vampire movies – but I never actually put any thought into what exactly a clove of garlic is.

My mom says you can never have too much garlic, so I was leaning towards going with the entire garlic thing when it occurred to me to look at the bottle of pre-minced garlic that we have in the fridge. On the side, the bottle says, “1/2 teaspoon = approximately 1 clove of garlic.”

Aha! Half a teaspoon MUST be just one of the sections. Yay, deductive reasoning.

I’ve often wondered why recipes are so precise and specific and include words like “level teaspoon” and “vanilla extract.” As opposed to what? An unlevel teaspoon? The whole vanilla bean? The vanilla seeds? Do people even cook with the whole vanilla bean anymore? After a little digging through this line of thought I discovered that yes, people do actually still cook with the whole vanilla bean (most crème brulee recipes call for fresh vanilla beans).

Another one that’s always baffled me is recipes that call for “all-purpose flour.” Does some sort of single-purpose flour exist? Again, a little digging revealed that yes, there is self-rising flour (specifically for bread), cake flour (just for cake, apparently), and a whole slew of other flours I wasn’t aware of.

So it’s probably a good thing that the recipe said “one clove of garlic” as opposed to “one section” of garlic or “one piece” of garlic or - for that matter - “one-half teaspoon” of garlic. Recipes are specific so that people like me won’t put powdered sugar in instead of granulated sugar or olive oil instead of canola. Word choice matters in the culinary world.

And if you still don’t believe me, see what happened when Nate told me to add a “dash” of cayenne pepper.

Good Morning from Australia!

Well it seems our love for our Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd (KRudd) is as good as it is ever going to be.  Love him or hate him, or even if you just find him plain annoying...seems there is always something 'about him' that can make us laugh.

Dear Diary

I am told this is in fact going on in every country all round the world.  Which I guess gives me some comfort in the fact that it is not just me!

I have also noticed that stairs are getting steeper. Groceries are heavier. And, everything is farther away.

Yesterday I walked to the corner and I was dumbfounded to discover how long  our street had become!

I am noticing more and more that people are less considerate now too, especially the young ones.  They all speak so softly, and darn it, they 'mumble'. Parents should teach their kids, oh and remember this themselves - SPEAK UP FOR HEAVENS SAKE, the rest of us are not lip readers!

I also think young people are much younger than I was at the same age.  On the other hand, I can't help noticing that people my own age are so much older than I am. When I ran in to Joyce, an old friend, the other day, oh my she had aged so much that she didn't even recognize me.

I got to thinking about the poor dear while I was combing my hair this morning, and in doing so, when I glanced at my own reflection well, Yeeee Gads!! - REALLY NOW - even mirrors are not made the way they used to be!

It seems to me that there are a lot of people around today who continue to drive way too close to me, I can see them in my rear view mirror, right up close and for heavens sake...WHY WAVE  AT ME? -  Do they really think I am going to wave back to a perfect stranger?

Clothing manufacturers are losing the plot these days as well. I mean what sort of people are they employing...perhaps they are illiterate, I mean why else would they be labeling size 10 or 12 dresses as 18 or 20?  Do they think no one notices?

The people who make bathroom scales are pulling the same prank.  Do they think I actually 'believe' the number I see on that dial?  HA!  I would never let myself weigh that much!  Just who do these people think they're fooling?

Also something has happened to my computer's fonts - they are smaller than they once were, as are the keys on my keyboard.

I'd like to call someone in authority to report what's going on -- but the phone company is in on the conspiracy too: they've printed phone books in such small type that you can barely see the names and numbers in there!

Anyway, I will close off this entry now because I am late for my Senior Cits Weekly Club Luncheon, it is at...oh my! ....See now there's another thing, people keep forgetting to tell me things, like where we are going.

Housework has generally always been known as a woman's job.  There have been umpteen arguments between the sexes over this subject and it seems almost certain these will continue.

I got a huge laugh out of this timely tale at one of our regular 'girls nite outs' -  I know this will put a smile on your face as well.....if you are a woman that is!!

One evening, Jenny arrived home from work to find the children bathed, one huge load of laundry in the washer and another in the dryer.

Dinner was on the stove, and the table  was set.

To say the least, Jenny was astonished!

It turns out that earlier that day, Ralph had been reading an article that said, 'All Husbands should be aware that wives who work full-time and have to do their own housework are going to be too tired to have sex.'

The night went very well.  The next day, Jenny told her girl friends at the office all about it. 'We had a great dinner.  Ralph even cleaned up the kitchen'.
'He helped the kids do their homework, folded all the laundry and put it away.  I really enjoyed the evening.'

'But what about afterward?' asked her friends.

'Oh, that . . . Jenny giggled, Ralph was too tired.'

Ladies.......God is good! and it seems, on our side.

Growing Older Really Does Mean That......

• Everything old is new again, but if you wore it before, you're too old to wear it the 2nd time around
• Your kids are becoming you...and you don't like them!...but your grandchildren are perfect!
• Yellow becomes the big color... Walls, teeth, (blonder) hair
• Going out is good, coming home is better
• When people say you look "Great" they add "for your age"
• When you needed the discount you paid full price.. Now you get discounts on everything... Movies, hotels, flights.
• You forget names but it's OK because other people forgot they even knew you.
• The last 2 outfits you wore had spots on them.
• You ask your husband or friend how your outfit looks and they tell you the truth
• The five pounds you wanted to lose is now 15 and you have a better chance of losing your keys than the 15 pounds.
• You realize you're never going to be really good at anything, especially golf.
• Your husband is counting on you to remember things you don't remember.
• The things you cared to do, you don't care to do but you care that you don't care to do them anymore.
• Your husband sleeps better on a lounge chair with the TV blaring then he does in bed.  It's called his "pre-sleep"
• Remember when your mother said "Wear clean underwear in case you GET in an accident"? Now you bring clean underwear in case you HAVE an accident!
• You used to say, "I hope my kids GET married.. Now I hope they STAY married!
• The best place to have a conversation with your husband is in the bathroom. You have his full attention.
• Who wants to wear 3" heels anyway?
• You miss the days when everything worked with just an "ON" and "OFF" switch.
• You remember when GOOGLE, iPod, email, modem were unheard of and a mouse was something that made you climb on a table.
• You use more 4 letter words..."what?" "When?"???
• Now that you can afford expensive jewelry, it's not safe to wear it anywhere.
• Your husband has a night out with the guys but he's home by 9:00 P.M. --   Next week it will be 8:30 P.M.
• You read 100 pages into a book before you realize you've read it already.
• Notice everything they sell in stores is "sleeveless"?
• 30 of the people in People Magazine you've never heard of.
• Your concealer doesn't conceal.

Quite often I am sent something that gets me laughing real hard straight up, I enjoy it and that is it.  But then there are those occassions when something like this finds its way into my day and I giggle about it for hours if not days!!

This readers is one of those times - I aplogize in advance if any of you find it offensive, but please, please just look past that at the really achingly funny thing about it....enjoy!!

Someone told me the other day that at my age (???? - what generation am I?) I should be more than aware of the fact that ‘we,’ ‘ Baby Boomers’ are re-setting the levels and seriously making someone re-write the book on retirement, old and middle age, marriage, parenting, grand-parenting and socially acceptable mid to late life behavior and dress standards.

Unlike our parents, and certainly their parents before them, we are doing it (and everything else) 'our own way'.  Are we actually achieving anything? Personal opinion and those of our friends and peers would have me answering with a resounding ….YES!

Ask our kids, and they would likely tell you that, right now is not a good time and that they are busy enough without having to worry about 'our' behavior and irrational decisions.  They would likely proceed to add, with staunch conviction' that it is about time we started ‘acting our ages’ and ‘taking things a little easier’. Oh dear, we are not still embarrassing the little munchkins are we?

Seems, from a great article by Penelope Trunk titled ' What Generation Are You Part Of Really,? Take This Test,' -  I am in the Generation X group – this is due to the fact that I know how to use a computer, I can email, upload and download music, I have my own web-page and so on and so forth.

May I say however that as good as I am at using all this new found knowledge and equipment, when it comes to a breakdown of any size or magnitude, it is enough to send me seriously looking for a significant alternative such as a ‘sea-change’ or ‘ a nice quiet retirement home.’

Penelope also suggests that ‘We should determine our generation not by our age but by how we use media', she also goes on to recommend that 'We should not judge people rigidly by the years they were born.'

Penelope’s article is a most enjoyable read and she also provides an interesting test that she has put together.  So if you are really keen to know just where you sit in this 'Gen Era Ladder of Importance', visit Penelope at her site, do the test at Penelope Trunk.com – add up your points and you too will be able to figure out what generation you're really a part of.
