I LUV IT!! -

I am not going to apologise for seeing the hilarity in this, it just simply appeals to my sense of humor.

Too funny!!  Admit it,  these hacked road signs do a lot to break the monotomy of the usual boring  'Road Works Ahead', Traffic Slow At ....' and 'Caution Accident Ahead'.

How many times has a dark little thought run through your own mind about what you would like to put on one of those road signs yourself if you had half a chance.

Since this story broke, our office has had some very enjoyable moments sharing ideas about what would be cool to put up on one of those signs.  Suggestions offered up included:

  • 'There's a guy upfront asleep at the wheel' (particularly for when traffic is at a standstill)
  • I heard that
  • Mondays Suck
  • It's Lack Of Mental Awareness Day
  • Kiss A Frog Today
  • Have You Seen My Car Keys
  • Honk Your Horn For Service

Hackers have been messing with electronic road signs in some US states, warning of zombies, cold climates ahead and raptors down the road. It seems, be it rightfully so, traffic safety officials are having a hard time seeing the funny side of it.

The latest US breach was during Tuesday morning's rush hour near Collinsville, Ill., East of St. Louis where hackers changed a sign along southbound Interstate 255 to read - 'DAILY LANE CLOSURES DUE TO ZOMBIES.'

Pranksters in at least three states are messing with electronic road signs meant to warn motorists of possible traffic problems by putting drivers on notice about Nazi zombies and raptors.....

Now - It's Welcome to Australia

Now it seems they have struck in Australia as well changing signs to read 'NOBODY HAS EVER LOVED YOU'

"The pranksters also illegally hacked into signs around the area with other messages, according to GoldCoast.com.au...." No question about it: there's humor in these hacked road signs....

Daily Screw-Ups would love to have you tell us about what YOU would like to see on one of these signs.  Email us at the email link on ouir Contact Page or send us your comment and include it there.

  1. Good to see the Australian government has a sense of humor with these types of pranks….can’t really say the same for the American government…

Truthfully Gaby – I don’t believe any Government has a sense of humor – do they ever even ’smile’?

  3. What a fun idea! I can not see any harm in this – keep up the information as I will be revisiting your site. In the UK we tend to take the micky out of strange town name signs such as: Weeford, Crapstone, Butt Hole Road etc…

  4. That’s great, love the Zombies. Mind you, we have some weird normal roadsigns over here in the UK – ‘Sign Not In Use’ and a ‘Sand’ warning put on a beach… a selection is available at http://www.flickr.com/groups/top_gear_pointless_road_signs/pool/

  5. Lol I like the raptor one! I think it would be funny to put something really believable though, like “Bears escape from zoo, lock all doors” when someone is sitting in traffic.

  6. Hey Lorrette, in the area where I live we often get university students vandalising road signs. I can see the funny side of it for sure as I was a student once. Some of our neighbors get very frustrated however!

Hey Jen – yep too funny! I still have to laugh at some of the latest ones though. There was a recent one in New Zealand that advised motorists that there was ‘Free Petrol – Next Turnoff – Next Servo’! – not so funny for the service station I guess, but apparently it cleared the freeway pretty fast.

      Take care

  7. Great site, but not fair, it seems that you are having all the fun overthere. I wish someone would hack our signs over here to cheer us up instead of the normal “Roadworks expect long delays”, oh what joy thoughs are.

      Hey Cindy

You never know – it seems to me that this type of thing seems to become internationally viral without too much trouble. I have to say they still make me smile when I see them and yes they do break the monotony of the usual freeway holdups and roadworks scenery’

      Cheers

  14. hello,

it’s either creepy or hilarious if someone saw this kind of road signs. And maybe it will cause vehicle accidents due to excessive laughing while seeing this. I think I’m gonna get one of these if it’s printed in t-shirt and once it became available in the market.

    keep it up.
