Childbirth vs Circumcision

During the 20th century, more than 120 million foreskins were severed from American penises.  Of course these days there is a marked movement to render obsolete this archaic 'male genital mutilation'.

Briefly, on the subject of Childbirth, our dear mothers told us that this was ultimate womanhood and, that it was going to be, among other things, a pain we would soon forget.

Some of us girls were fortunate enough in the 1960/1970's  (I am talking baby boomer crowd here) to have mothers who actually had the where-with-all to at the very least, sensibly explain the 'sex thing' (birds and bees).

But, when it came to the childbirth thing, many of us were scarred for life and suffered recurring nightmares after having childbirth explained to us - i.e. how the female body has the ability to expand to accommodate something the size of the weekly family wash, and then how through something the size of a grape, we were going to be able to squeeze out something akin to a life sized 6 pound plus bowling ball, oh!  and then.....snap back into shape in a flash!!

The mind boggles, and the thought is somewhat pleasing when we wonder if while our mothers were having this conversation with us girls, what was the conversation like between our mothers and our brothers on the subject of 'circumcision'.

One would have to suspect that this subject would have brought many a tear to many a young boys eyes.

And, on the subject of 'circumcision', here is a story 'about circumcision' that will make you smile....enjoy!!

A timely reminder that adult words are very often taken literally by their kids........

A teacher noticed that a little boy at the back of the class was squirming around, scratching his crotch, and not paying attention.

She went back to find out what was going on.

He was quite embarrassed and whispered that he had just recently been circumcised and he was quite itchy.

The teacher told him to go down to the principal's office.

He was told to telephone his mother and ask her what he should do about it.

He did this and then returned to his class.

Suddenly, there was a commotion at the back of the room.

She went back to investigate only to find him sitting at his desk with his 'private part' hanging out.

'I thought I told you to call your mum!' she said.

'I did,' he said, 'And she told me that if I could stick it out until lunchtime, she'd come and pick me up from school.

  4. Childbirth can be a very painful experience. I thank my mother for what she went through all those years ago. Of course, the pain of childbirth is quickly followed by the pain of raising a precocious boy.

I do not remember the pain of my circumcision. But, my circumcision was not quite done right. A portion of my penis was damaged and, although not double over and groan painful, it did not feel good when the damaged portion was touched or rubbed. I am restoring my foreskin and that has alleviated the pain. See http://www.RestoringForeskin.org By undoing my circumcision, I have also regained the sensitivity I lost when I reached my 40’s. So, just like childbirth, the pain from circumcision does not end after the foreskin is cut off.
