Cooking Is Hilarious – Here’s Proof!

God blessed me with three wonderful children and, a large and fully fitted kitchen as well.

He blessed me too with a better half who (my deep appreciation and thanks goes to his mother) just loves cooking, and heaven love him,  did 99% of the cooking, otherwise none of our three children would have survived once the Heinz Solids Baby Food In A Bottle was no longer an option.

Please don't for a moment think I did not care for or love my kids...I did.  It was the kitchen and all that stuff in it that I could not seem to develop any sort long standing relationship with or affection for.

I used to rationalize that,  if you lived in close proximity to  a couple of  good restaurants, then who needs a fully fitted kitchen, we could use the space to increase the size of  family/living area. Just kidding!! but it does sort of have some logic in there...doesn't it?

Perhaps my lack of penchant for cooking is why I found the following two 'Recipe Renditions' (with a few somewhat quirky cooking tips) so hilariously amusing and enjoyable.....

I hope you do to....!

Roasted Popcorn Chicken (or Turkey)

A stuffed turkey

Here is a chicken recipe that includes the use of popcorn as a stuffing - imagine that!

This recipe is perfect for people, like me, who are just never sure how to tell when poultry is thoroughly cooked, but not dried out.

INGREDIENTS

4 - 5 lb. Chicken or Turkey
1 cup melted butter
1 cup stuffing (Pepperidge Farm is Good)
1 cup uncooked popcorn (Orville Redenbacher's Low Fat is a good choice)

Salt/pepper to taste

METHOD

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush chicken well with melted butter, salt and pepper
  • Fill cavity with the stuffing and the uncooked popcorn
  • Place in baking pan with the neck end toward the back of the oven
  • Listen for the popping sounds

When the oven door blows open and the chicken flies across the room, it's done.

And, you and I, thought I couldn't cook...

This recipe for Grandma's Favorite (Never Fail) Boiled Fruit Cake never fails to raise a giggle - even though it has been around for a while.

  • Try another ship – just in case, now turn the mixerer off
  • Break two leggs and frisk in a large fluffy bowl, now chuck in a level bag of dried fruit
  • Pick fruit up off the floor
  • Mix on the turner
  • When fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers, pry loose wish a drewscriver.
  • Sample whisky to check for tonsisticitiy, moisten with a bittle Led Rull
  • Ssifffft two cups of salt.  Or shalt…
  • Throw pinch of Bed Rull over shoulder
  • Check for any damage
  • Now shift the lemon and strain your nuts
  • Add one table
  • Add a spoon of sugar
  • Turn the cake tin 360 degrees - fall over

  3. “lack of penchant for cooking” – I completely relate! That’s why I’m a fan of bbqs cause you’re almost expected to burn something and no-one batters an eyelid.

      Hi Jo

LOL – I can relate entirely!! If my husband did not like to cook we all would have suffered malnutrition – BBQ’s are always a top idea.

Try honeycombs with to much baking soda, if in the oven it will explode or on the hob it will just expands, expand, expand… hours of cleaning quickly follow.

I am most interested that you say you tried making this dish….as it was not a real recipe but more of a joke….hope your oven did not end up in a huge mess..but then stranger things have happened and just maybe the corn popped and stayed inside the chicken ??? again, interesting!
