A Stunning Senior (Boomer) Moment

stunning-senior-moment
If you are a 'boomer' or somewhere around 'boomer age or older' then take a sec to remember just how many times in your life you have found yourself on both sides of this fence.
Aah yes ....
1. we have been the know-it-all cocky freshman or woman, and
2. we have found ourselves wanting to slap some young upstart upside the head for being cocky around us.
This little classic is dedicated to those who 'think' they know it all and to those of us who 'have known' it all at one time or another..
Oh, and it will make you smile as well.
A self-important college freshman walking along the beach took it upon himself to explain to a senior citizen (boomer) resting on the steps why it was impossible for the older generation to understand his generation.
'You grew up in a different world, actually an almost primitive one' the student said loud enough for others to hear. 'The young people of today grew up with television, jet planes, space travel, man walking on the moon. We have nuclear energy, ships and cell phones, computers with light speed....and many more.'
After a brief silence, the senior (boomer) citizen responded:
You're right son. We didn't have those things when we were young....so we invented them.
'Now, you arrogant little sh*t' - what are you doing for the next generation?
The applause was amazing!!

This is a very great post. It’s really worth reading. I hope more young people would be able to read this. Short, concise but full of knowledge and heart. I hope to read more of this kind of posts soon.
Great post. Made me laugh out loud. The world seems to be dominated by these arrogant young people these days – and many appear to want to blame us boomers for everything that is wrong with the world.
Hey There Phil
Thanks for visiting DSU and how wonderful that our post had you laugh out loud.
Yes, I look back and recall the arrogance of my own children when they were were teens and considered us, even then, to be ‘old fashioned and out of touch’ with what they considered to be ‘their world’.
Our only consolation….they will age too and be where we are today!! Which begs my next question..were we that arrogant at their age?????
I probably was – but I did have a great deal of respect for the older generation and what they had experienced through World wars and rationing. Many of todayds younger people are now blaming the older generation for polluting the planet and globalisation.
Nice to see someone writing something worth reading. Thanks.
Glen nice to know you find DSU content of worthwhile interest. Please visit us again soon
You know Phil I suspect most of our generation did, and still do have an enormous respect for the older generation and what they went through (Wars) so that we could enjoy the relative safety of the world that we live in.
