I get your meaning here Doug, but there are many that would disagree. I guess it also depends on the circumstances, health and age of the the grandparents too. Anyway aside from all that … Wow, grandparents how would many of us have survived our childhoods without them?

Growing up parents seem to be the ones making all the rules and guidelines for their kids to abide by growing up. Once the children have grown, and more importantly matured, they then realize how invaluable their parents were in their upbringing. Thus making perfect sense to let the grandparents babysit and or raise the grandchildren, whatever the case may be.

I know I would have been lost without the care and love from my grandparents. I believe being with them was an essential part of my childhood development.

i missed my grand father a lot.home without grand parents is not a perfect home.

Yep, I guess it is much the same for most of us – kinda makes you feel a little sad for those who did not or do not have grandparents. They do bring such dimension to our formative years.

Yes I know what you mean. However sad thing is that a lot of grandparents are unable to play bigger roles due to the end result of the state of the economy and other recent financial stuff ups. Many find they have to keep working rather than retire and have the luxury of time to spend helping their kids with their children.

Grandparents are more like a 2nd set of parents these days. When I was little I only saw mine once a week if that.. There are so many Mothers having to work full time these days to keep the home afloat that Grandparents now have a much bigger role to play.
